Legally Blonde

I just read the bios of the girls on the show. What a wide variety of schools. Some haven't even gone to college. It just goes to show you that there are so many paths. Kinda backs up what's been said here so many times.

Did you see the new realty competition for the next Elle? Wide variety there, too. DD was watching it but I am not sure what network it was on. They used singing and dancing to whittle from 50 to 10 last night. Apparently acting will come into play in the next rounds. I don't think it was a re-run.

It was on MTV.

I watched the show too! It was very interesting to see all the different girls they chose. They ranged in age from 18 to 28, blonds and brunettes and one red head. Also I found it interesting that there was only one girl who talked about going to college for musical theater. I believe she was a sophmore at Western Michigan University. Other than that there was no other mention of schooling unless I missed it.

I think I will definitely continue watching this show. Anyone else planning on tuning in regularly? We could compare opinions and cast predictions as to the winner :)

when is the show on the air?

It's actually on right now on MTV until 8 o clock.

It's a repeat of last night it looks like.

OK, I've heard so many lies on this show already. They said at the beginning that NONE of those girls were on Broadway; my d googled them and at least 2 of them have been; one was on Broadway 4 times! They also announced that the director, Jerry Mitchell, is "legendary", when this is the first and only Broadway show he's directed....he does a lot of choreography, but not directing.

I watched and I don't understand why the girl Rachel got cut ?
I also noticed that one had been an understudy in La Cage, another was from a Broadway family and both her parents had been in Grease the original company on Broadway.
In terms of schools, one was a graduate of CMU, BW, Northern Colorado, someone mentioned Western Michigan and one of the girls was currently a MT major at Coastel Carolina.

Yeah, I didn't get why they said none of these girls have ever been on Boradway.. in her BIO it even says it..

It's about good television, not finding the best person to play the role.

Cassie O graduated from BW this year. Libby (who was one of the last 5 to be eliminated) also graduated from BW this year.

I was surprised that acting didnt seem so important, the judges made it seem as though they had to BE elle woods and that if thats not who they really were than they couldnt do it....seemed strange to me

Oh the joys of reality TV casting, I wish they would just ban it completely. It's called ACTING, you don't have to "be" the part and yes, there is usually no focus whatsoever on any acting, all we hear is pop songs that have nothing to do with the show or role people are auditioning for (See the search for Nancy in the UK recently).

I thought the whole thing was a train wreck. Painful to watch.

Totally in agreement NMR-but like a train wreck I couldn't turn away!

NMR, I couldn't agree more, for so many reasons. Based on the "coming attractions", the show is about to become even more bizzare as the contestants live together in the same house and it all devolves into a melodramatic reality TV soap opera replete with interpersonal sniping.

MichaelNKat, I couldn't believe that they are adding that "America's Next Top Model" element by putting the young women together in a house or apartment. I also have read, on other forums, that though the show's producers (which include Hayley Duff, who reminds the viewer every few minutes that she was on Broadway) contend that these young women are all complete amateurs, several in fact have professional experience on stage. In fact, one is Emma Zaks, daughter of Jerry Zaks, who made his Broadway debut in Grease. Emma is the one that the judges contend looks like Reese Witherspoon. (The same approach -- pretending that all the entrants had no experience and were fresh off the bus from Peoria :) was used for the Grease: You're The One That I Want reality show casting.)

I have to say though that I was rather shocked, especially by the ones who do have Broadway and other professional experience how...well I can't sugarcoat it, downright bad their singing audition was. So many pitch problems and the last note in the song for nearly all of them was pretty bad including, like I said, the ones who were on Broadway. I'm just hoping that all of this is just a "show" they're putting on for the cameras because it just boggles my mind. Especially when the judges were fawning over some of the ones who really weren't up to par even for college AUDITIONS.

I was also in shock that Rachel got cut. Granted she didn't act the song very well but that comes in time, she sang it better than nearly every one of the finalists.

ActressToBe, couldn't agree with you more. When they were all trying to hit the note, DD muted the TV. It was too painful most of the time to listen to it.

Definitely a train wreck that was impossible not to watch happen. Could not believe some of the comments made by the contestants. I figure this Elle will be one of the summer replacement types that is short lived to boost ticket sales. Then they will cast the real next Elle.

JIJane, at least they used the song and dance from the show for this one, instead of totally unrelated material.
