adlgel - What major did she apply to? Hard to believe she wouldnt get in with those stats
Keep in mind that that’s what waitlists are for
@adlgel I have extremely similar stats to your daughter, and just want to let you know that being waitlisted (if that is the actual decision, who knows) has no reflection of her academic performance, especially at Lehigh. Lehigh wants to keep its yield up and only admits above average students who have demonstrated significant interest. I know it won’t help if Lehigh was her dream, but tell her to take it as a compliment; Lehigh knows that she will get into better schools and choose to go elsewhere. Hoping it’s not the final decision!!!
@helloooall thanks. i was just wondering why lehigh proudly displays a review by another university in their portal. uninformed thought apparently
@Canlgoback I think you need to understand that people apply to a lot of schools because the process has gotten way more competitive than what it used to be. Obviously, given your a mom, you really have no idea what it’s like for a student nowadays. You can’t get away with just applying to 5 schools, because people are getting waitlisted and rejected at their safeties!!! You don’t know what someone’s first choice is, so don’t tell them they got in somewhere so they should be happy. Everyone wants to go somewhere specific.
@Sally50 Earth and Environmental Science or Environmental Studies - I forget which one.
Just saying, everyone on College Confidential couldnt have been waitlisted. Everyone only saw waitlist until they disappeared, so I’m inclined to think it was a fluke…
If that person on Twitter who responded to the tweet Lehigh sent today is right, then in 9 minutes we’ll find out our decisions for sure
@lesjubilants We visited Lehigh officially when my older son was touring colleges. Since we had to conserve our days to visit colleges we didn’t officially re-visit with my daughter any school she had already seen with my son. But she sent an email to her admissions rep explaining that we didn’t do an official visit because she had already done one with her brother and had visited with me multiple times over the years. I would hope that would be enough to show interest.
@lesjubilants i didnt see waitlist. im probably in the rejection/acceptance pile
I know that. I have two sons. My oldest son had merit scholarship recognition and was rejected at his top schools. My youngest applied to nine schools. This is so unbelievably competitive though there are fewer college age kids applying now than when my older son applied.
@adlgel Similar for us - D’s friend goes to Lehigh so she’s been there 10+ times to visit them, and of course official tour, interview, few emails to the admissions counselor, requests to see specific departments (never answered though). I can’t think of what else there would be to do. Maybe let them know each time she visited her friend to say “hey, I’m at lehigh again”? Not a fan of their high importance on interest.
@slumgoat Did you look at the same exact time though? There was maybe a minute when the decision was up
This waiting though…
One way that Lehigh gauges interest is to check how many times each applicant accesses the admissions portal, website, virtual tour etc. They realize that not everyone can visit campus, and place high value on electronic visits.
“When are Lehigh decisions coming out?” my mother asked.
“I really have no clue,” I replied, “I know it will be today though.”
I wish luck to all of you who consider Lehigh to be your dream school, you can do it!
But seriously, are they waiting for some special time?
I was waitlisted and the letter wasn’t even made out to me… now it’s gone. Weird.
@whomever
I’m curious about where you’re finding that information. How do you know that Lehigh cares about electronic visits? Do they say that somewhere?
