I got accepted but the only thing it said for financial aid was:

"College selection should be based on educational growth opportunities. Financial aid is designed to make college affordable for families unable to meet its costs. Lehigh University is committed to providing need-based financial aid. Financial aid packages are typically made up of a combination of scholarships, need-based grants, loans, and work study programs. More than half of all incoming first-year students receive financial aid awards. Though we have a robust budget, we use all of our funds each year. As a result, submitting all of the required documents by our deadlines is incredibly important."

Does this mean that I don't get any? My dad just got laid off and it's hard enough making ends meet right now...I am panicing...

I was accepted as well I don’t think it means you didn’t get any. My portal says the same message so I believe financial aid information will be in the package sent home…that makes the most sense

First congratulations to all who have been accepted and for those who didn’t I believe things will work out.

Here is a post I post last year, the financial is available online every year as soon as you get your acceptances. This is what you need to do: accepted students need to open a NEW PORTAL but I am not sure if you can open a new portal without the letter, but I am sure the information is available if you can create your new portal.

Hi - I had to respond to what I read on your thread because something is not right. The portal you are logging into is not the correct portal. Where is says Financial Aid acceptance, that is the acceptance of your financial aid package, which is not available to review on this portal. You must create a NEW accepted student portal to view your financial aid. This information was given to you in your acceptance letter, which should have had an envelope in the back of the folder with the aid information. If it didn’t and your aid is done, then you will find it under your new portal. You need your id which Lehigh provides, it will be your initials (first middle and last names), and 3 numbers that end in 16 (THIS YEARS CLASS WILL BE 17). Once this new portal is set-up, you need to log in and under Financial Aid section click “here” next to the word banner. This takes you to a new section where the financial aid awarded is listed. I hope this isn’t to confusing, I really believe your aid is already done, and I truly believe that that Lehigh doesn’t give more aid to anyone based on when they were accepted - only it could be lower if you missed deadlines. Good Luck.

Your financial aid info will be in your acceptance letter. Not the “congratulations” packet which is the booklet. It’s the actual acceptance letter that will have this info as well as your pin and lan numbers that will allow you to log into the accepted students portal and give you access to the banner information.

Actually if you set up your account you can find your fa package online. Or it should be on the right sleeve of the acceptance booklet in an envelope.

Still waiting for my accepted student package. Mail hasn’t come yet so I’m still hopeful I’ll get it today. Will we also find out our merit scholarship award with the financial aid info?

So I got the package and there is nothing about a merit scholarship listed. And under total Financial Aid, the amount listed is just the amount from the loans. Does this mean I got $0 in merit scholarships? If it does I"m going to be pretty upset

It does sound like that’s the case. Just remember that only 7% of accepte students get any form of merit scholarship so it is less likely to do with your stats and more with the fact that they have so few to give out (especially the $10,000+ ones).

Ok, thanks I’m over it. 7%? That’s crazy, they have a gigantic endowment…Well it’s their loss. Northeastern gave me a lot of money and I will be going there in the fall :)

I’m not entirely sure why they don’t use a larger portion of their $1 billion+ endowment on aid… They should. But regardless, I recommend you call Lehigh and ask them to reconsider the amount of aid. You have nothing to loose!

Sometimes, letting a school know what the competing offer is helps. I know countless students who did this and got their aid increased. Northeastern and Lehigh are very different. I’m a northeastern alum '82. and daughter will attend Lehigh in the fall so I feel very strongly both are great, however if Lehigh is your top choice, I know for a fact, aid packages have been matched in the past. Good luck.

Small World -I am also '82 A&S - Experimental Psych Grad from Northeastern, and My Son is going to be at Lehigh this fall too… (unless of course RPI matches his Grant %…)
