Hi, I recently received my acceptance packet and information on aid.

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but does lehigh give money per semester or per year? It says 25k under fall 2013 and 25k under spring 2014. Does this mean I got 50k, or is it just the 25k translated through the whole year?

All aid will be listed whether it’s grants, scholarship or self help by semester. So if it says a total of 25k for fall and then another 25k for spring, you will be getting 50k for aid.

That’s not a stupid question! I wondered the same thing. When I first saw how much I got I was devastated until I realized you essentially double it! Congratulations on a fantastic aid package!

Lehighhopeful, Financial Aid is reviewed fresh each year. Obviously aid will change if your need changes and if the level of money available changes.

Yeah I know its done annually, im just wondering if uour financial situation stays consistent, are they likely to stay consistent with your aid or have they ever taken the majorityof it away

We had the same concern and spoke with Financial Aid office three years ago and was assured that if our financial situation stayed constant then the aid would always be on the same level. It has stayed very constant even as income goes up because tuition goes up at a higher level. You should have no concern that you would be have to pay a larger amount in the future. The financial aid person told us but expect to pay if you win the lottery.

Hey for those who have been given an award (FA)-- can you tell me what your EFC was after you filled out the FAFSA and what was your award? I am trying to see correlation with Lehigh method? Apparently they use a IM method of determination for FA… which seems to be unrealistic in my circumstance. That is why I am just trying to see if there is a correlation.

My EFC was around $45,000. I didn’t get much (if any, can’t remember) grant money but I did get a $5,000 scholarship and $2,200 in work study along with $5,500 in subsidized and unsubsidized loans. So technically they did more than match it - not if you don’t include the loans, though. They did come close.

However, is your EFC the one that you received from the FAFSA $45K or the one that Lehigh gave you cause their calculations are completely different than the govt for financial aid… Lehigh uses a different method"institutional method" -EFC $45K. This makes a huge difference…And from your aid I am assuming the IM $45K+ 12.7= 57.7 to meet the needs. Am I correct in this assumption?

Yes, the fafsa told me $45k once I completed it. Lehigh is going to be about $57,700 which is why I consider what I got to pretty much match the EFC.
