I’m trying to decide whether or not I will attend Lehigh. Ultimately, the decision is coming down to a few major factors, mainly postgrad employment. I can obviously find the statistics on the website, but I’d like to hear from current Lehigh students, alums, and/or parents of Lehigh students… what is the process of finding a job like? Are recruiters for finance / business related fields interested in coming to Lehigh?
A bit about me: I probably would study finance at LU. I think I’d be near the top of my class, because I was given the highest merit scholarship. I am deciding between Lehigh and Olin business school at WashU in St. Louis.
Lehigh has a great career services department, especially for business and engineering majors, and loads of recruiters come to Lehigh. Due to its proximity to NYC and Philadelphia, most probably come from those cities. Lehigh has a special affinity to Wall Street with many alums working there, and many sponsored events and trips. The big banks (Citi, BOA, etc.) recruit on campus, as do all of the Big 4 Accounting and Consulting firms. My son is IBE (Integrated Business and Engineering Honors Program - highly recommended if you want to work for an investment bank), and he and the majority of his friends already had full-time job offers for after graduation as of the end of their junior summer internships. I am not aware of any who are still looking for jobs. Most seem to wind up in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic, specifically NYC, Boston, Philly, DC. I know Olin is a great B-school, but don’t know where most graduates wind up geographically upon graduation - that may also influence your decision. Best of luck with your decision!
