lehigh supplement essay help?

Hey everybody. I am on my second supplement essay for Lehigh University, but I am having some problems on how i should address the following question. any suggestions/help would be great! thanks!

Essay Topic: In our ever-changing society, people have defined 'equity' and 'community' in many different ways. How do you define these terms and what are the implications of equity and community for our 21st century society?

I am having trouble answering that question too…
did you figure out how to answer it? have you found anyone that can help?

One way you can approach the question is by asking another question. What happens when you don’t have ‘equity’ and ‘community’? History, while it doesn’t actually repeat…it’s more like it ‘rhymes’, can provide some lessons.

Look at the [French Revolution](http://www.cyberessays.com/History/107.htm) for a macro perspective and then reflect on a personal perspective; perhaps a similar inequity in a family, school or community setting and the disruption to cohesion this may have caused. The concept of [‘fairness and social cohesion’](<a href=“fairness in social cohesion - Google Search”>fairness in social cohesion - Google Search) is a very important, fundamental concept of how we structure ourselves in society.

For a pure scientific discussion of the issue of ‘equity’ and ‘community’ take a look at the following article: [‘Generous players: game theory explores the Golden Rule’s place in biology’](<a href=“http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1200/is_4_166/ai_n6151880/]'Generous”>http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1200/is_4_166/ai_n6151880/).

I spent a lot of time thinking about how to express myself on that question, and it was the essay I felt most concerned about when I submitted my application. Consider what community means, and how that definition is expanding or contracting in the 21st century. Is the concept of equity endangered by this changing sense of community, or is it made stronger? Why is it important, anyways?

Thankfully, it’s not a long essay. I managed to exceed the character limit writing along that thought process. I hope this gives you some ideas, and the reading posted above is excellent for getting started.
