Lehigh Supplement

In our ever-changing society, people have defined 'equity' and 'community' in many different ways. How do you define these terms and what are the implications of equity and community for our 21st century society?

That is the essay topic for one Lehigh's supplement. Im honestly confused on where to begin. But I did. I wrote the essay, less than 1000 characters and all.
My approach was defining equity and community, and comparing my school to lehigh in between. I.e., both give the same opportunities giving everyone a chance to excel, and both my school and Lehigh have a small community like a family, packing in a lot of school spirit, etc.

Is that a good approach? Or should I literally just do what they are saying (which would make the essay, to me, be dull to write, and dull to read as an admissions person). Im not asking for you guys to give me a thesis or anything; all I want is to know if I am on the right track, since my mom thinks I should just answer the question. Am I right, or is my mom?

hey I applied to LU too… the question is confusing to approach but once you get started on an idea you’ll be fine. You’re off to a great start, but make sure you answer the question fully. If you’re going to talk about your school you need to make sure you mention how you define equity in your school i.e. what value does it hold? In addition, don’t forget the question how these terms are associated and how they’re enveloped within the 21st century society. Hope this helps!
