I can’t decide between these schools. They all have offered me some merit aid, omitting BU, and they all have unique positives. Lehigh has the computer science and business program I have been accepted to. UMD has an amazing CS program and is close to DC. University of Rochester and Boston University don’t have anything that come to mind atm but I know they are good schools. Does anyone have any idea what might be the best option?
Do finances come into play, because you’re right - they’re all good schools. If one is significantly less expensive for you, I’d lean that direction, esp if I (or my parents) had to take out loans.
If not, look at each school’s pages where professors are listed and see if any of those are doing/researching things you find exciting. If so, the chance to work with them on their project(s) is often appealing to students.
UR has very little in required courses which appeals to many. Does it appeal to you? They also have between 75-80% of their undergrads doing research meaning it’s a school with a research “culture” among the students if that appeals. The other schools have research too, of course, but I don’t know the percentage of students involved.
Lehigh is set in a smaller city, if that appeals (maybe not since you reference DC). One thing students have mentioned to be about that one is the hills… I haven’t been on campus myself though - just relaying what I’ve heard. In general, it’s a good school which appeals to many.
UMD is loved by some of our students as well, though I don’t recall anyone going there for business. (CS students go to a wide variety of schools and do well if they’re talented.)
Sorry I never replied to your comment. I ended up choosing Lehigh due to the integrated computer science and business program. I was not in a good place while making this decision, and I am sorry for ignoring you.
I’m sure you should love it there. Students who don’t mind the hills have and it’s a good school. Wishing you the best. (And I’m not offended that you didn’t reply.)
