Does anyone have an opinion or experience with any of the schools. I intend to me a chemical engineering major, with some business thrown in.
I am in the integrated business and engineering at Lehigh, and I was wondering if I should go for that or be a dual chemE and business major at Rennselaer.

Any input would greatly be appreciated, thanks!

lehigh is a wonderful school! it was one of my top 3 choices last year. acutally one of my best friends from high school is in the IBE program. he says classes are pretty intense. he took calc 3 first semester and an engineering class and i cant remeber what else. hes really really smart and loves the social life at lehigh. it was acutally one of his last choices but after he got waitlisted to his top 3 and into the program, he couldnt turn it down. great things are said about both Lehighs bus school and the enigineering program so together w/ honors must be excellent!

I would say that within certain fields, RPI has stronger name-value, but the experience at these colleges would be entirely different. While Lehigh is known to be somewhat more of a party school for engineers, RPI is known to be more "nerdy", though there are also "normal" people there. I would encourage you to spend the next week visiting them again, if possible, before you make your final decision.

yeah i definetly think the social scene would be better at lehigh. i know a bunch of people from HS who were considering RPI but didnt like it after visiting and interacting w/ the student body. definetly has that nerdy tag. matters what kidn of person you are. do you consider yourself nerdy (not always a bad thing). or would you rather have the "traditional" college experience with frat parties and football games?

I think RPI is considered stronger as an academic school, or at least has historically. They would have a somewhat different social scene, although RPI has a pretty widely prevailing fraternity system as well.

It depends on how much you like the frat scene. Lehigh is a nice place, but the social scene is very monotonous. Very heavily frat oriented. There's really not much else to do.

thanks again for all the responses. I'd say that I am a little nerdy, but I mean I love chem so what can i say. However I do look forward to having fun in college, im extremely white and blonde so technically i guess ill fit in lol. (= Any further comments are greatly appreciated, I am still leaning toward lehigh even though i did not get as much financial aid.
