RPI or Lehigh?

My Son will study Aero Engineering or Engineering Physics. He is accepted to both Lehigh and RPI - do any current students or Grads of these two institutions have any insight for him on which school may be best for him? Physics and Math are his subjects - and Problem Solving and Logic are his keenest skills. Thanks....

So I am not a current Lehigh student, but I was just recently accepted and there’s a good chance I’ll be attending next year. Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Physics are actually what I’m interested in doing as well. Lehigh does not offer an aerospace engineering major, but when I visited I got the sense that a lot of people were interested in the aero industry. What they typically do is major in mechanical engineering and minor in aerospace engineering. Also, Lehigh has a very active aerospace club that seemed like something very special to be apart of. I believe neither Lehigh’s nor RPI’s engineering physics program is abet accredited.

I visited Lehigh then RPI then Lehigh again. I’d definitely recommend Lehigh.

What are the net costs for each school? You should consider that as well.

These are both highly respected schools so I don’t think we could recommend which would be better for him without knowing more about him. What is he looking for? what matters to him? City/suburbs/country? Greek life or not? etc.

Thank you all
I was hoping to find some feedback from some current students or alum from RPI or Lehigh. We are leaning my son toward Lehigh over RPI as they offered $32,000 compared to $25,000 from RPI for Merit monies. However we can still be swayed in our pressure if it looks like RPI is the better fit. He has been at A Magnet STEM school for 3 years so understands Dorm life and self sufficiency. 2260 SAT - he is taking 5 APs this year - Math team 4 years, and loves gaming, but tempers this with playing pool and Ultimate. He played Lacrosse thru 9th grade, swim team too, and Ski’s. Has had a summer job for two years and is a delight to spend time with. Well - Any ideas???

Post your question in the schools’ forums, there may be more alums and current students there.

I think RPI might be a little more highly ranked than Lehigh? I don’t think either one has an advantage on location (Troy versus Bethlehem). My son liked RPI over Lehigh, but that’s him. I think he heard the motto “Work hard, play hard” a few too many times. So he didn’t apply to Lehigh and he got into but did not attend RPI.
