Lenovo thinkpad

Seems the Lenovo thinkpad is the way to go. Where can I buy them? Haven't found the thinkpad's in any stores. Did everyone buy on line? where?

Check GotApex.com for some sales.

Just to warn you, their shipping is absolute CRAP. I ordered my T500 on 7/13 and it’s been delayed from 10 days to 30 days. Good machines but pure garbage shipping.

Or… it could be perfect. Ordered my new T400 on 7/3 and got it on 7/12. I imagine it’s just the luck of the draw.

I got mine through the outlet in 7 days (I ordered at night).

I never had a problem with shipping. It’s all up to UPS really and the area you live in, if you live in or next to a city with airports, it will come quickly. They can’t really do anything about it besides using FedEx which will take just as long.

^My laptop hasn’t even been shipped yet and they can’t tell me what’s wrong. For all I know, it’s not even assembled yet after 30 days.

Well Lenovo does have issues with building the systems lately because they switched to a new order system internally that doesn’t give specifics and even the csrs hate.
You should try canceling and reordering if possible. At any rate there may be a lack of a single item to put into the thinkpad delaying the whole thing. (Expect delays the most if you ordered one of the T400s which are new)

I agree with DelfinoM. A delay from 10 to 30 days is not a “shipping” problem, it is an “assembly” problem. Anything special you added to it?

Nothing special at all. I canceled and reordered one. If this one better not get delayed too long since I got school starting within a month.

its crap. my dad has a ideapad, the one that was supposed to not go farther than 135 degrees or something. His friend pulled on the screen and now the sides are split in half. Thats what you get for buying cheap chinese made junk!

speaking of chinese, when i ordered my HP it took 3 days to ship from north of shanghai to central florida. who’d of thought.

stay away from lenovo they make cheap parts

Lenovo, and more importantly, the factories they bought 4 years ago, have consistently been making the best laptops on the market for durability for as long as laptops have been around. I can’t speak for the consumer centric Ideapad line, but the Thinkpad laptops are the industry standard for well-engineered, and well-constructed, non-ruggedized laptops. That’s without question the truth.

Ideapads are not the same as thinkpads. Completely separate team of engineers amd designers. Ideadpads are made to be cheap for general idiotic consumers, while Thinkpads are the workhorses with quality and power.

Yeah, there’s no way you can compare a ThinkPad to an IdeaPad. They are in completely different classes.

where are Lenovo’s made?

Most are made in China, but that shouldn’t worry you, the Thinkpad quality is still superior. They do have a new production center in Mexico, and a smaller one in North Carolina.
All of the repair services are handled in the US regardless of where it’s produced.
