Less Competitive/No Audition schools

Hi, I’m looking into dance schools on top of MT. I am a boy. I started dance January of this year, I am a senior currently. I took Jazz and ballet(ballet for only 3 months), this semester I am taking Jazz and tap, and next semester I am taking ballet, Jazz, and contemporary. I need help finding colleges with less competitive dance majors/minors.

From what I’ve seen there will always be at least an audition for class placement.

There is no way that you would not have to audition. Also, please reconsider majoring in dance as you are not experienced nor well trained.

You may approach this by going to the MT forum and looking at the schools and determining which ones offer a dance minor. Webster is one with a dance minor and requires no audition. That’s just the first one I looked at.

I would look at Shenandoah University in VA. My daughter graduated from there. you have to audition but they are always looking for men. Make sure you take as many ballet classes as you can. You have to do solo for the audition. Play to your strength and do something that is in MT arena. They like dancers from all different fields but you need to have a really good base in ballet. Good luck.
