Less money or more selective school?

Note: I want to go into Pre-Med.

I recently got into IUPUI with the chancellor's scholarship of 8K. the price is already 22K a year and without room and board from sophomore-senior year (my sister said i can live with her after freshman year), it would be even cheaper. and theres another scholarship im applying for were i can basically get a full ride...

BUTTTTT, University of Notre Dame is more selective and Rose Hulman is more concentrated. Both will give me next to nothing when it comes to money.

If you intend to go to med school then you want to keep the cost of your UG degree down. ND’s selectivity may actually work against you in that the competition for grades in your pre-med courses will be at a higher level.

It’s hard to turn down free or close to free. And IUPUI is actually a pretty good school, especially at that price.

I really depends. If your family can comfortably afford ND or Rose Hulman, I’d definitely go to one of those schools.

If you get nothing but A’s in Iupui and get a good Mcat score you will get into a med school.

IN resident, I assume? If so, keep in mind that IU Med School gives zero weight to what undergrad you go to. Only MCAT, GPA, what research you do, ECs, etc. And in general, what med school you go to doesn’t much matter.

ND’s strong network in the business world and RHIT’s high reputation among engineers only matter if you enter the business world or engineering.

You will also be working with the people that might make decisions on your future. IUPUI has 250 majors so that narrows the working relationship down quite a bit so that you will actually be collaborating with your mentors. It is also in the medical hub in Indiana. And respected in the Midwest.

So, it depends what you want. if you you need prestige go elsewhere. If you want an MD go to Indiana University Medical school at IUPUI. It is a greased skid if you have the goods. The people I work with testify to this.
