Less popular majors

I can remember a girl I went to high school with applying to SLO and planning to major in soil sciences - that's how badly she wanted Cal Poly! Going with an unpopular major is an admissions strategy that has been around for a LONG time. Does anyone think that with the uptick in STEM, that historically popular majors ( history, English, communications, journalism) will become the ugly ducklings? Many people I know say they will only encourage their children to attend college if they have a direct route to a career e.g. Engineering, nursing. Is there a place to find out what majors are popular on a campus?
