Popular Major vs. Your Major

So lately I've been checking out what majors are popular at particular colleges. I have a pretty big list of colleges I wish to apply to, but I still need to weed some out. I'm leaning towards a political science/history major or somewhere along that field. Most of the colleges on my list, list the majors as "top" which is pretty awesome. However, is there more to it?

For example: I was thinking of applying to Temple University however the percentage of Political Science majors is 6%, also ranked the sixth most popular major. Would it be hard "fitting" in, or should I just apply to the colleges where my major is "more popular."

Some other colleges I was planning on applying to where the my major isnt so hot are: Penn State, Quinnipiac, and U Hartford. Thoughts? Anyone else applying to a college where their major isn't particularly "popular"? Any other helpful opinions and comments ?

I don’t think popularity of major is a big deal, especially for political science/history, which is guaranteed to be pretty popular.

You’re right, it’s not one of the top majors here (mostly business, criminal justice, and education), but why would it be hard to fit in? We offer tons of majors, so not everything is going to be the most popular major. Again, it’s not really a big deal.
