< (Less than) 2300 club Who Still Got Into Really Selective Colleges

2290 --> Stanford (so far).

Granted, the breakdown is 800/800/690 so it's really two-sided...

I hate the Writing Section lol.

2100 > Boston College (1410 out of 1600)

Not a huge surprise.

Is 2200 decent?

my friend got into Stanford SCEA with a 1900, and then UPENN, Dartmouth, Duke with a 1340/1600-------> 2140/2400...

i am guessing that was due to AA? [the 1900 one]

A friend of mine got into Columbia with 2160 and he's an international applicant!

My sister got into Smith ED with 2200.

These are some great results, thanks guys!

So far Rice and Chapel Hill OOS with a 2210

1630---> MIT. But hey, I'm Native American!

:)

Wait, do the Ivies really only look at the CR + Math score?
What about the UCs?
I hope not, because writing is my best subject.

Can you guys also post your ethnicity/race? I am not a racist or anything (being partly minority myself) however, it does play a big part in many admission processes. A 2100 by an African American is like a 2300 for someone who is Caucasian.

yea race plays a significant part. this kid at my school had 2400 sat, 3x 800 sat2, president/head of numerous clubs, 1st nationally on chem and math olympiads as junior, stellar recs, eagle scout, etc. was rejected from MIT. he was indian (from India). people with <2300 SAT who got into MIT really didnt deserve it over him, especially if they got in just because of race.

as for really good scores and relatively "ok" schools, my friend got a 1580/1600 on the OLD format, was rejected from rice and ended up going to univ. of washington

Um, the majority of people at really selective colleges got below 2300 lol. This thread is useless.

Edit: This thread is REALLY useless. I think the reverse would be more interesting.

They say that Harvard receive >4000 applications with SAT-2400 from all over the world annually, and give offer to about 300 of them.
Think about the other 3700 out there...

SAT really is not so important.
I have a friend with SAT-2240 and SATII-2380 going to Harvard with financial aids this year, and another friend with SAT-2380 and SATII-2400 refused by a bunch of schools.

2260, Harvard

i know a 7'0 tall kid who is going to Georgetown free cause his basketball skillz. Though i cant say ive seen him get a grade higher than a C, and highly doubt he will break 1000 on his sats.

chenlizi, I don't know where you got your facts from...that's completely false. Last year there were only 238 2400 scorers according to CB. Furthermore, the NY times said that Harvard rejected 25% of perfect scorers. I think your comment would make more sense if it were 2300+ scorers.

FredFred - Remember, a lot of top schools superscore, and im pretty sure Harvard is one of them. They do it just for this reason, so they can say "look at how many amazingly smart kids we have accepted/enrolled/turned away"
