PSAT scores may be coming to schools as soon as this week. If any of you get your scores, please let us know. Many schools have a habit of dragging their feet on this.

No scores yet…but our counselor received an e-mail saying that the PSAT scores were sent out in today’s mail, so many schools SHOULD have them in hand by the end of the week. How quickly they get them out to the students is another matter. :)

Oh, that is exciting! I’ll be stalking the mailman even more doggedly. Today, we were pulling out of our road when we saw the mailman heading up towards us, aiming for our house . . . We had time, so my daughter did a u-turn and headed back to our mailbox. We were tragically disappointed with the catalogs and college-junk-mail. If it went out in the mail yesterday, though, then it should arrive this week. Maybe Thursday or Friday. I’m hoping! And, yes, I’ll be sure to let y’all know if we get them before you all know they are in hand.

mmom99:

Some clarification: PSAT scores are communicated to students through their high schools, not directly by mail (unless things have changed this year and I haven’t kept up). Unless your high school uses mail to fulfill this roll it is unlikely the mailman will be carrying scores for your daughter. Instead, you’ll be hearing from your high school’s administration about scores. Probably before Christmas, but some schools wait until January.

mmom99, we are anxiously awaiting the scores for our youngest daughter as well. Two years ago we got them on either the 4th or 5th of December. The mailman hasn’t delivered the mail yet today. Keeping our fingers crossed. Our older daughter ended up only a commended scholar, but hopefully our younger daughter will be a finalist.

S received his score report today at school. He attends a prep school in NJ. His school is usually very responsive so I am sure that helped with getting the results to the students very quickly.

We Homeschoolers get them in our mailbox(: !

I’m aware that the scores go to schools, not to students. And I’m aware that many schools wait to hand out the scores. But it makes it harder for them to wait if they have parents calling them on the phone demanding the scores. The reason they can get away with this nonsense is because most people have no idea when the scores are arriving.

Oh, yes, Descartesz, but we, like Gamomto4, are homeschoolers, so ours do arrive by mail. Speaking of which, the mailman usually comes around noon, so I am going to go watch our road!

I am homeschooled as well but I took it at a high school of course. Unlike with the ACT, I didn’t sign up for the Collegeboard site or anything and thus can’t view them online.

So does that mean that the school still handles my scores? Or is there a way I could access them early on Collegeboard?

If you entered in the homeschool code your scores will be sent to your home, if you entered in the code for the school where you took the test then you will need to get them from that school.

I asked my counselor, and she said that our school got everyone’s PSAT scores already. However, she said she wasn’t supposed to tell me what I got, so I have to wait until the school mails it out to everyone.

PA student here:
PSAT scores were available 12/3 on Naviance (my school’s college readiness solution.)
The score reports and booklets (including percentile) were distributed today, 12/5.

ughhhh. I never would have guessed that I would ever be on tender hooks for these results, but I am really nervous. These results are going to have a big impact on where we look since we are looking for lots of merit aid.

My kids’ high school waits til after Christmas vaca because they don’t want the kids distracted with midterms coming up.

Our school didn’t give them out until mid-late January. I don’t think it has anything to do with midterms. At the parent of a junior, it was a bit frustrating to have to wait so long to hear. However, as the parent of a senior, I’d like to point out that the counseling office is extremely busy at this time getting all the college recommendation letters out and helping the seniors with all kinds of college issues. If you don’t really need to know now, I suggest that you let the guidance counselors focus on what they need to get done for the seniors before their deadlines.

The college board should understand that they are making a lot of unnecessary work for the schools by doing it this way. They should just post the scores on the student’s account like for the SATs, or put up the complete list of winners on their website. I think the college board is kidding themselves if they think this is such a valuable piece of news for the schools and the press that it needs to be guarded for release in some special way. It’s not. No one cares about this stuff except for the families involved. Our school doesn’t even announce the winners. The local papers ignore it. Maybe younger families would be better informed about this opportunity for their kids if the college board weren’t so incredibly secretive about the whole thing.

My wife,DS1and I can’t remember when we got his results. I guess I have to ask guidance when they will be available.

I just found out that d’s school won’t be giving out PSAT scores out until February, during the Sophomore individual conferences, but they may be on Naviance sometime before that. The school hasn’t received the scores yet, and Juniors have priority (understandable).

I’m still holding out hope that my homeschooled son’s scores will be in the mail box soon!

They arrived here in the mailbox today in WV! My daughter got a great score, and is a shoo-in for NM here in WV with her 217. We are dancing in the aisles, as merit aid is crucial to her college options. Woohoo!

I just asked my counselor and she said that she hasn’t even received the results yet, but that she would notify me as soon as she got them.
