Let's chance... the last chance...

I've chanced here before without SAT scores. I'd like to know where I stand. If it helps, a UCLA essay reader who visited my school saw my transcript, ECs, and statements and said I had a good shot at UCLA and Berkeley, which I was surprised at. She did not see my SAT. She said my statement was the best she had read all day. Hopefully she's right! I know my stats aren't amazing, but I do think I have somewhat of a shot. (Also, I have ELC status and apparently have entrance into UC Irvine).

• CURRENT CLASS RANK (out of 522): 22 (top 4%)

• ESSAY: Highlights my extremely unique ethnic background, talks about my family and reveals my sense of humor. I think it was a really moving essay, and have heard it from multiple people.

Isn’t ELC top 4% as a strict cutoff? At my school, one girl *****ed really hard because she was like 4.1% but didn’t get it.

If someone official said you have a good shot, and your scores are in the range (which they are) you have a good shot. That being said, you need to get lucky in order to get in.

Well, I got the ELC letter so I’m ELC.

Just so you know, senior year grades aren’t as important as junior and sophomore grades. You can pretty much blow off your senior year (dont do it) and still get into UCLA. That being said, concentrate on doing well junior year so you come into your application strong.

Also, in terms of UCLA and UCB, ELC is just comparison type of deal, do not expect early acceptances from these two UCs. 4% at my school was a joke. We had a class of 700+ and only the top 10 or 11 got into UCB and UCLA. ELC will typically get you early acceptances from places such as Merced, Davis, SD, SB, and Irvine.

How were you able to get ELC if you’re only a junior?

@ ThePowerOfOne
ur notified over the summer going into senior yr
if not early fall.

i made it to ELC!!
GoodLuck Everyone!

Thanks all who responded. I meant that I’m a **SENIOR, not a junior.
