Let's start a place for class of 2020 MIT hopefuls or something!

@ammoopi how do you know?

Did any EA applicant not get that temporary financial aid box?

@whynotnow I assume

I can’t believe that we are 3 weeks apart from celebrating or crying about the results. :smiley:

3 weeks? How cool. Let’s all celebrate or cry together here. For a moment, I actually began to believe that only a few had the Kerberos thing. Funny thing. It is gone now though.

Good luck to everyone applying, it’s a bit sad that a majority of us won’t make it in.(but we can dream right?)

–Brief Stats–
I come from a decently small school in south Texas (about 120 students in graduating class)
SAT: 2170 (Math:800 Reading: 700 Writing: 670)
ACT: 34 (M:36 S:36 R:32 E:31) (I am waiting for the most recent ACT results)
SAT II: Math Lvl II: 800 Physics: 770
GPA: 103 (Weighted)
Rank: 3 out of ~120
I have taken the Computer Science and Calculus AB AP tests (both 5’s) and my school only offers Calculus as an AP class (so CS was self-study)

–ECs–
My Sophomore Year, my video game design team placed 4th in the nation in the TSA Video Game Design competition.
I have made it to the ISS finals of Zero Robotics (basically an international programming-only robotics competition hosted by MIT) and received a special recognition award for keeping data about that year’s contest.
Competed in many Math/Science/CS teams for UIL (Texas-wide competition), been to the state level for 4 competitions. (NS x2, GM, CS)
National Merit Commended (As if that is going to help :P)
Made the Region band 3 years in a row, moved on to Area band my sophomore year (Tenor Trombone)
Member of NHS
Was a finalist in a local Super Smash Bros 64 Tournament.

I think I got everything, I know my chances are probably less than average (but why not try?).

Mainly posted this here for people wanting to know what the competition was like, though I think I am not even close to the worst of your troubles.

^Don’t worry, you’re in wonderful standing. Woo, fellow Texan! Good luck!

I apologize, but I’m unfollowng this thread. The next thing you’ll likely hear from me is of my rejection. Good luck you all. You all have wonderful stats and I sincerely hope you all get in. :slight_smile:

@flamefire333
lol smash tournament :smiley:

Stop self-deprecating, your chances are definitely not less than average.
Zero Robotics at that level is a very strong EC. TSA is also nice.
The UIL contests don’t seem as prestigious as the actual olympiad-related contests, but they should help you a bit.

Your SAT/ACT’s are fine, (SAT’s ever so slightly low, but ACT’s are fine). They don’t really determine your admission.

You can blame your lack of AP’s on your school, so don’t worry.

International student here! The wait is killing me :slight_smile:

I think I’m also gonna lock up in my cage and stop reading other people achievements. With my 2050 SAT score my chances are next to zero. Good Luck to those that are getting accepted!

@dianaDM It’s best to not keep hopes too high but pray for the best. To be honest, SAT isn’t the only thing. My SAT isn’t too amazing either. And I’ve been reading threads where I’ve seen 2400s being rejected and a 1900 being accepted. Who you are as a person is what gets you in.

almost two weeeeeeks!

Actually, less than two weeks!
Should be the 12th, I think.

I don’t see FA info above/replacing interview info… Crap is it an automatic rejection?
Anybody who do not have it?

@littlehappy it was there for a a few hours due to a glitch. It is not there anymore.

I think that glitch only lasted a day or so. Did anyone who applied early NOT get it?

@tutututututuru Have they announced the date yet?

@whynotnow go and look at the EA decision threads for previous years. It’s always a Saturday, usually the one a few days before the 15th. Last year was Saturday the 13th. I’m fairly sure it’ll be Saturday the 12th this year.

Did anyone who used the portal for supplemental material not see that they received your supplemental material? The portal says I submitted my research supplement, but myMIT does not even have a box for the supplement. Is this normal?

Fellow MIT applicants… help with a question. For recommendations this year you know how we had to create an account in https://mit-recs.applywithus.com/apply/to/mit and send rec requests to our recommenders that way? What does it mean if on my dashboard both Evaluation A and Evaluation B have checkmarks, but on the applywithus account it only shows that the requests were sent but neither recommender has submitted? Does anyone else have this issue? Please, if you have checkmarks on your dashboard, be sure to check your applywithus account directly (go click on “Application Forms” on the left and then on “required school forms”) and check the account… I think the checkmarks on the dash board may only indicate the request was sent but not that the letters were received. Anyone else have the same issue?

@mediapr If you see a green checkmark on the recommender portal, that means that the letters were submitted by your recommenders. If I remember correctly, it took a day or two for it to show up as “processed” on the MyMIT portal.
