HS is for more than learning facts, in my opinion. It's important to learn about society and other people. Segregation doesn't exist in real life so it shouldn't in high school; school should be a microcosm of society.

Taking the people out of your class won't solve anything, at least in the school's point of view. Their goal is to educate everyone, not just educate you and make sure you are comfortable in the process. I do think that they should stick to class level requirements more stringently (AKA my "Honors" French class) but they can't officially segregate them--it would never pass any school boards.

I think the school administrations should be stricter about the people getting into high-level classes. For example, parents' demands can override anything at my school, which puts a lot of people in AP classes even if AP isn't the right learning environment for them. And I'm pretty sure that there're people in my AP classes who cheated their way there.

However, at the same time, those people aren't necessarily dumb (maybe they're a little ignorant and live in their own bubbles). Some of those people who seemingly don't belong in AP classes have said some really insightful things that, I have to admit, surprised me. (Which is why I need to squash my elitist attitude.) Not to mention the fact that some people might just not like the way the class is being taught.

In any case, my point is that you clearly see problems in your learning environment, so you should do what is within your power to make the situation better, whether it's asking teacher for extra work or doing self-studying. But at the same time, it's possible that the people you dislike really are taking something away from the class, but you just don't know it and can only see that they goof around in class. So at least give them a chance.

i used to wish that our life would turn out like the movie 'gattaca'. Has anyone watched it?

I used to wish that we had this technology that can tell who's gonna be great and who's not gonna be great, when they are born. Then all the 'to-be great people' get special privilages whilest the 'not-gonna-be-great-people' do not get previlages and live a sad sad life.

haha yeah i dont wish for that anymore though. I think it's great that there's so much diversity in the world in forms of intellect, race, personality, culture, etc..

I'd like to agree with the OP, but it's just not logical. I know some not-so-bright folks that are really awesome. If anything we'd need to eliminate a certain type of people that merely degrade society. But truly thats not logical either. We're stuck with what we've got, and to be honest, we're better for it.

I love my computers class. That's because all sorts of people are in it. Traditional, cp, and honors/ap. The kids not in honors don't care about their grade so they fool around all block and play sound clips and print porn to get the teacher mad. They have nothing to lose because they already have a huge discipline record. Nothing funny happens in honors classes. Honors kids care, almost too much. I even learned from them to relax a little and I play games in that class when the teacher lectures. They're hilarious people, I'm already tempted to take another computers class.

Also-these kids make YOU like better to colleges. Your rank is higher when there are more idiots and you seem like a much better canidate.

*look
