I've had this thought for a long, long, time. My temper broke recently, when stupid kids in my history class started to be really distruptive. I asked myself, 'how are they in the same class as I am, when this is HONORS african/middle east, and they don't know crap?' my friends were also asking the same question. so i came up with this great idea. segregation. not by race, but by knowlege. let the blind help themselves. if they don't want to learn, fine. they can go work in sweatshops when they grow up. people like my friends and I have much more important things to do. You don't think this is fair? keep on reading.

imagine you are in a discussion club. what kind of people would you want in that club? people who know what they are talking about or people who think they know what they are talking about? some dumba**es who bring up random subjects and doesn't take it seriously or people who care and stays focused?

well?

this is also a big problem in teachers. don't you just hate it when you are SMARTER THAN YOUR TEACHER? what is the point of a teacher when they can't be someone that you look up to and respect? did you ever ask yourself,
'WHY ARE THEY TEACHING?!' you want to give up an arm to change to a better teacher, but life tells us, "tough ****."

another thing is lunch. think. how WONDERFUL would it be if you were eating lunch with your friends talking about problems in world, life, games, whatever without some fight, screams, or food throwing around you? don't you think that the school board realizes how important lunch is and the interaction with the right people? they can be your friend for life!

i'll leave it there for now. ill post up my plan tomorrow.
criticise, praise, say what you want. but i would like you to post your thoughts.

oh by the way. this is why i snapped.
in my class, we were talking about africa in general and someone said "yea Darfur." first of all, what a dumb response! WHAT ABOUT DARFUR?
then this next line made me snap.
a girl goes "Whats Darfur?"
i will leave it at there. too angry to answer.

Stop whining. Dumb people who distract from your education suck and it sucks that your school doesn't try to differentiate honors from regular too much, but just don't worry about it. You can't walk through real life without ever running into people like that.

Plus, segregation by intelligence? It already happens. It's called America's education apartheid. "Let them go back to their sweatshops?" My god. Calm down.

That's not life. I've been enriched by all types of people, and I'd hate to only know intelligent people. You know, you're going to get into the real world one day, so you'd better get used to a diverse group of people- including diverse intellgences

You think thats bad, my AP Bio teacher last year once told someone that all hormones are proteins, then when a kid read that some are steroids and caught the mistake, she tried to get out of it by lieing that there are two types of steroids, one protein and one lipid.

i agree that i should calm down.
sry about the "sweatshops" i was a little too excited :)
but i disagree with some things.
what if this disruption gets to the point that you can't learn?
do you agree that requirements for higher level classes should be more strict?

on the "lack of respect"
this is what i meant to say. i don't hate them for being stupid. i respect them for existing (i don't mean that in a bad way) but we should atleast be separated because of the large gap of what we know.

i agree on that i will meet many different people in my life and i should accept it.
but can i avoid those people in life? well, i guess. to a degree. that is what i want to acomplish. but in school? I CAN't. stuck in a hole.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I think that the best you can do is to learn on your own and look at getting through highschool as a torture necessary to get to college. Picturing the disruptive jack*sses ten years and twenty pounds later making $30,000 less than you doesn't hurt, either.

I'm probably the one of dumbest person in my school (big fish/ little fish theory) but I appreciate the fact that I'm given the opportunity to learn the same stuff all these smarty genius nerds amazing insane really big brains people are learning. It's ironic that I used to tutor in high school and now I need the tutoring. In other words, help us not very bright people out would ya? Use that gift to help your classmates.

UNSA - the differences between you and the kids ubi_sum is talking about is that you've said a) you're greatful for the opportunity and b) you put in the effort necessary to keep up.

usna_reject
i am totally open arms to people who have the desire to learn.
i am not to people who annoy the h*** out of others so everyone can't learn.

ubi sum: u NEED to calm down. my favorite class is REGULAR econ and not ap because there are so many slackers and dumb kids (its a req. class for graduation) so that class is so funny. believe me ubi sum u will miss these people once u go to college.

Well I was in the same situation as ubi_sum, I really couldn't stand the people in my class in high school and couldn't stand the lack of motivation of others. I actually miss those knuckleheads.

omfg not another one of these retarded threads

So what if you are smarter than your teacher (which is based on your assumption anyways)? I try to embrace all my teacher's knowledge, because they always have something that you lack.

Stop being a pompous prick. Start opening up your mind for peoples of all walks of life. This kind of attitude is the root of nazism and hate crimes.

The closest thing that comes to your utopian school is an elite private school- but I wouldn't suggest applying, since you wouldn't be getting in with your ignorance and crappy spelling.

Now that I've thought about it, I agree there should be a segregation of schools based on stupidity, *because I'd hate to be around idiots like you. *

actually they do have segregation, they call them magnet programs... but anyway i love the reg. classes also b/c im not really into the nerdy kid scene, i love kids who are more laid back and i also love sleeping an getting an A.... i remember when this girl in one of my ap's asked the teacher "Can I give a citizens arrest on dress code?"... and she was completely serious, she actually told the principal that dress code should be checked more strictly.. I swear i wanted to hurt her soooo bad

by the way this was my friend's idea. (I'm not trying to push away the criticisms) TY for everyone who responded!

yes, i do dislike dumb AND ignorant ppl but if you meet my friend, i'll look like MLK. he's incredibally smart, but he has radical ideas.
1) he wants to put "ghetto" people to camps. yes, camps.
2) then he wants to put them in different countries.
3) (this one SCARES ME!) then he wants to use them as "labor forces"

lol and the irony of all this? my school is surrounded by Amish farms.

keep in mind, I'm not serious about starting a movement. my anger is gone thanks to you guys! i did have a real real bad day.

again ty for responds. sorry if i made you mad (dooit).

..well in some aspects this idea is okay....as long as the lower people are still being taught effectively....this type of thing helps them cuz if everyone is at the same level...the class can progress appropiately. This is why I loved the change from Middle school to high school, cuz people were seperated more effectively

..........and btw....ppl are put into classes based on grades...which is determined no how they do on tests...not their actual intelingence...........fyi

Eh, just work as hard as you can in your current HS (ie, be the most serious student in an unserious school - you'll stand out to adcoms), and go to a college known for its intellectualism.
