When I was TAG-ing, it was my understanding that I needed 30 units done by the end of summer 2009. I think that’s when you need your 30 units done. Will you have 30 done by the end of summer 2010?

unfortunately no, all classes are closed and most of the classes i need for my major are…well. not offered for summer campuses.

i could have SWORN that previous TAGs accepted AP credit - so that’s why i wasn’t concerned over needing to be done by Summer 2010 with 30 units. and now - BAM. oh Life. you’re so not a comedian.

thanks a lot with dealing with my questions, emilsinclair9. i really appreciate it.

that said - is anyone else in the same pickle as i am - with issues on AP credits at UCI/any other UC? i can’t possibly be the only person who has AP credits. XD

I’m filling out my TAG right now and since it asks for all classes taken at CCC, I’ve listed 2 non-transferrable math classes I’ve taken. But since they don’t transfer do I even have to list them? 'Cause if I do, my GPA is at an abysmal 3.25

Or should I not worry about it, put in those classes, and move on??

@ mytime: It actually won’t matter if you include them or not since you have a 3.25. You’re safe either way. Your UC-trans. GPA is all that matters, but on the TAG I think you have to list everything. Either way, a 3.25 > 3.0 minimum.

If you don’t need to list them, then you’re even better off :).

I hate coming into threads with nothing constructive to post, but it’s best if I post it here rather than creating a whole new thread of my own since my question does pertain to TAG.

I’m wanting to transfer to UCSD from CC in two years as a Human Biology major.

1.) Does this mean I must complete the IGETC?
2.) Am I expected to simultaneously finish EVERY lower-division course as I’m completing the IGETC, prior to my attempt in transferring? If this is true, I don’t know if I could fit in all my general ed’s + lower-division courses and get everything completed within two years. I looked on the Assist.org site and saw that I have a long list of lower-division courses to tackle.
3.) So long as I complete the TAG Agreement and remain in good academic standing, I’m pretty much a shoo-in to UCSD (or other UC schools of my choice)?

@ HotChocolate:

1) Yes.
2) UCSD is actually pretty lenient on prerequisite completion for TAG. UCSD has the most prereqs per major (generally), and you should do your best to complete as many as possible. However, if you have more than half done, you may actually get credit for TAG just because there are so many of them. If you have a 3.5-6+ GPA, you’ll be a shoe-in for Human Bio at UCSD…and probably any UC for that matter.

3) If you do receive a TAG from UCSD, you are guaranteed admission to UCSD.

** I’d just like to add: UCLA and UCB often have less prereqs to fulfill than UCSD. For example, psych at UCLA (one of my majors) only required 6 prereqs. UCSD required like 12 lol. All this said, definitely work toward fulfilling the prereqs for other schools too as they often have less.

I have a question concerning how you would report F’s on the TAG application. I have 3 F’s from my first year at community college that I’ve since made up and received A’s in. What would I put in as the grade for the classes the first time I took them? If I put them in as F’s my GPA is a 2.52, without them included it is a 3.21.

I always thought that they would automatically be excluded from GPA calculations once they were remade as that is how it appears on my community college transcript. Now I’m worried that I won’t be able to TAG because of these F’s. I don’t quite understand what all the letters in the dropdown box for grades mean so I’m hoping that one is for repeated courses.

Wait, so I don’t have to complete all my lower-division classes prior to transferring…? Because I went on the Assist.org website to see what I’d have to take at CCC and it specifically states (verbatim): The Division of Biological Sciences expects transfer students to have completed all of the lower-division course work required for their desired biology major at the time of transfer.

Upon seeing the list, I really don’t think it’s possible to tackle everything in two years, and I’ve been around here far too long. If it’s NOT required of me to finish EVERYTHING prior to transferring, I’d be happy to complete the remaining few lower-division courses I have to fulfill at UCSD.

After using a blank IGETC form and reading over the UCSD TAG Agreement, I created my own rough draft of my possible schedule over the course of these next two years. I took a snapshot of it, [does this look like a pretty solid gameplan](http://i49.■■■■■■■.com/2lnfu3k.jpg)? You’ll see that by the end of two years, I’d only be missing a few lower-division courses pertaining to my major: a semester of math, a year of physics and organic chemistry (which I somehow forgot to include in there). If possible/allowed, again, I plan to take them at UCSD.

@ emilsinclair9

Thanks for the help =) I would rather not list them since they don’t even transfer, but I just want to be safe since they do ask for ALL courses.

I have a 2.71 right now, and will have a 2.86 by the time summer session is over. By the end of the Fall Semester, I plan to have at least a 3.0. Do I need to have a 3.0 by the time TAG is submitted, which is the end of September? Or does it need to be by the end of Fall 2010?

Also, do we have to list non-Assist classes? That would also bring down my GPA a bit.

so 100% we do HAVE to meet with our counselor about this? are there special counselors that i have to see or just the normal random ones i get?

@natasharose: you need to list alll classes that you have taken! and im prettyyy sure u can have a 3.0 by the end of fall, because they take those grades into consideration as well.

HOt chocolate!! that is alot of course for the summer!! i too am looking to get into the tag program and transfer to ucsb or uci. what cc are you attending?

ohhhhh. i am sorry! i just saw that your math class was the only class for your summer session. my mistake. haaha

I’m bumping this up because I noticed someone has an unanswered question and there are TAG questions peppering the first two pages anyway. Also, I’ve been wondering…do people with TAG tend to get into their UC of choice with a lower GPA than the average November applicant, outliers aside? International Relations at UCD is, I’m pretty sure, an impacted major, but my GPA is only a 3.46 (and will lower slightly because of this B I’m getting in my summer Microecon class). This is making me more nervous than I’d like–you know, if I had to be nervous at all–because I don’t really want to go for Anthropology to have a great chance of getting in. Does anyone who did a TAG with an impacted major have any idea, whether about my chances or in general?

this thread is nice.

@golden: if you do tag u just need a 3.0. read about it on davis’ site

What about IGETC for Davis? UCSC?

I have more than thirty units and I am well above the GPA minimum.

guys… check the schools’ websites for the required GPA(search TAG. for instance, for UCD, it’s 2.8 for agriculture, 2.9 for biological sciences, etc.) along with assist.org for required courses. and YES you do need 30 units completed when u sign the contract which is sept1 -30, 2010, and 60 units by the end of the spring term of next year. and i don’t believe AP courses can fulfill those 30 units although they may count toward your pre-req’s and requirements. see a counselor if ur so confused.

i’ve read in other posts that people got in with TAG with gpa of 2.8 whereas many untagged people with 3.6ish did not get in.
