Letter From Admissions Officer

Did anyone here receive an acceptance letter from Yale that was hand signed? My letter from Yale was not, in contrast to Harvard, where everything addressed to me personally was.

I've actually received no communication at all from Yale, aside from my acceptance packet and a postcard earlier in the year saying my application was incomplete.

Do internationals also get these handwritten notes?

this thread is five years old, but i thought i’d bump it because i received a VERY nice note today from my regional admissions officer praising my essay in some detail. such an incredibly nice touch by yale to personalize these letters! any other class of 2014 get this? it’s great!

Yes, I just got a letter with a handwritten postscript, but it’s only a brief sentence.

mine wasn’t too long either, but i still felt it was a very nice touch. not as nice as the handwritten letter a friend got from another university’s admissions dean, but still quite nice for such a large school.

I was in the lucky position of actually meeting my admissions officer before the decisions came out, so she wrote that it was really nice meeting me and that my application was just as great as she expected. A very nice touch indeed! Yale is so great about courting its admits…

Did you apply EA to Yale or RD?
because it would be interesting to know that they are already into the app reading process if you applied RD.

Did you guys reply to Yale already?

well I got in and have recieved nothing of the sort :(

but the acceptance letter was enough to make me happy for quite a long time so its ok

I have not replied, but most likely I will accept the offer. The handwritten note makes me feel guilty for waiting.

no, i applied EA and was admitted. it’d be bizarre if i received this as an RD applicant.

i haven’t accepted yale’s offer but will provided FA is good enough. i won’t reply until april though. what about you, Miss Princeton?

Yes I got one too; with about a paragraph of personal comments…they made me feel warm inside :)

then my asian mother was like “hah! that’s nothing! they say that to everyone! you need to do better than that.”

Oh yeah, to all the early admits out there- when are you guys going to accept/decline the offer? I’m sure I’m going to yale, but my mom wants me to wait until our financial aid is applied for. She thinks we’ll get a better deal, which I’m not so sure about.

^until april/may 1, when my other decisions and FA estimates are out. did you apply other places? why does your mom think you’ll get a better deal if you wait to deposit until after the FA is out?
