I got a letter from Yale College's office of the dean. Saying "Greetings from Yale... congratulate you on your academic achievements thus far...we hope that Yale remains among your top prospects..."

It looks a bit different from the standard college mail-out. Does this letter have any bearing on my admissions chances at Yale?

I got the same letter, Yale in general seems to send out a lot of personal sounding college mail like that (at least that’s what it seems to me). I don’t think how much mail they send you will have an impact on your admissions decision.

Standard marketing. They want you to apply. Of course, they have no idea how you’ll compare with all the others whom they have convinced to apply. Like others have said, your reciept of the letter has no bearing on your eventual outcome.

All schools send that to all students who show interest. I recieve a load of them pretty much every day. It doesn’t mean anything except that they want your application money.

They always send them out. However, UChicago is undoubtedly the king of college marketing. Nearly every week, I get letters from them and I’ve received literally a couple BOOKS about the school! It is so annoying because they make you think like you can definitely get in and they really want you, but end up rejecting you anyway.
