Letter of Continued Interest

Hi all,

I got deferred REA from Harvard. I’ve heard that it is good to write a letter to show that you are still interested in a school (which I very much am) after being deferred.

Is this necessary? Commonplace? Do AOs actually like it, or does it come across as brown-nosing?

If do end up writing one, what do they tend to look like? Do I just upload via the application portal uploader tool, or should I email to undergraduate admissions? Would I need to submit it before the RD deadline?

Sorry for asking so many questions. Thank you in advance for your guidance.

I don’t know about necessary but they are common at the top selective schools. I would keep it short and add some reason for why you want to go to Harvard and/or your first semester of senior year, preferably something not already mentioned in your application.

Don’t bother. The yield at Harvard (percentage of admitted students that enroll) is over 80% so Harvard knows you’re still interested.
