Letter of Rec from a teacher with leave of absence

If the letter of recommendation is from a teacher who has taken a leave of absence for one year but will be back next year when I enter college, do I put that under Teacher Recommendation or Other Recommendation?(He taught me junior year.)

Should be a Teacher Recommendation, IMO. You may need to work with your Guidance Counselor to get this to work if your school does recommendations through Naviance.

Another poster last month had a similar situation, went to CA for official input and reported back the surprising result that that this should be an Other Recommender. I absolutely agree with mathmomvt that this was one of your teachers and should be a teacher rec, regardless of what CA says about it. CA is wrong on so many things this year…

The other poster was me. One of my son’s recommenders is retired and another has taken a job in industry. But the guidance counselor was able to set them both up as teacher recommenders. The teacher is recommending you on the basis of his experience teaching you last year. It doesn’t really matter what he is doing this year.
