Letter of Rec from Sophomore teacher?

I was wondering if it is a bad idea to send a letter of recommendation from a teacher I had sophomore year?

My first letter of rec is coming from my AP Human Geo teacher from 11th grade, and I’m taking his IR class senior year. My sophomore English teacher has been a mentor to me since I took her class, and we are very close- I talk to her at least once a week, and she knows me on a much more personal level than most of my teachers. I asked her to write a letter of recommendation because I know she would write a fantastic one (she has recommended me for two summer programs that I was accepted to).
Was this a bad idea to have a sophomore teacher write for me?

I think if you have kept in touch and you know she will write a strong letter, it is fine.

No, I think you’ll be okay. The best rec letters will always come from those who know you personally as opposed to just those who know that you’re a good student. That said, it would probably be ideal if you did, in fact, do well in her class.

My D used one sophomore teacher (he was also an advisor in a program she was in so they met weekly throughout HS) and it was perfectly fine.
