Letter of Recommendation from Foreign Language Teachers

Some colleges require that one of the letter of recommendations is by a humanities or social science teacher. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with getting a letter of recommendation from a foreign language teacher for a highly selective school. I would imagine that foreign language teachers would probably write worse essays than English teachers or History teachers, but could anyone share experiences about getting a letter of recommendation from a foreign language teacher? Should I try to get a recommendation from a different humanities teacher?

The foreign teacher I am planning on asking is Chinese.

Thanks

Asking a foreign language teacher isn’t bad. I don’t think there is a huge difference in writing skills; it’s a letter not a dissertation or a thesis. As long as the teacher is knowledgeable about you and can write a solid recommendation for you, then go ahead and ask her.
