Letter of Recommendation=Higher chance of admission?

Hi,

I'm in California and I applied to 4 schools: San Diego State University, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Fullerton, and Cal State Los Angeles. I received an acceptance e-mail from CSULA last week and got accepted as an upper division student. However, I really want to get into SDSU and my transfer GPA is 3.3. I realize that it's not very competitive but there are other things that I bring to the table, so to speak. I took 32 units in one semester and maintained a 3.1 GPA, I'm a published author, and I do a lot of community service. These are things that aren't going to show up in the application. Therefore, would it be a good idea to send a letter of recommendation to SDSU's Admission Office? Has anyone mailed a letter of recommendation to increase their chances of acceptance?

SDSU does not ask for any recommendations letters or essays. Although it’s frusturating having only your GPA and SAT be a factor in admission, if SDSU does not ask for those things I wouldn’t send them in. They received over 70,000 applications this year, and even though you want admissions to see more than just your GPA and SAT score, they simply don’t have enought time to look over recommendation letters with all the applicants they need to respond to. All you can do is hope your application is enough, and wait patiently until March.
Best of luck! I hope you get accepted. :)
