S22 asked 2 teachers for letters at the end of junior year. One is a history teacher he had twice in high school. The other was his math teacher. Unfortunately the math teacher left the school. His physics teacher from last year also left. He’s planning on majoring in engineering. For colleges that require just 1 letter, is having it be from a history teacher okay? For colleges that specify a STEM and a humanities teacher, should he go back to 10th grade or ask his current math teacher who he’s had for 4 weeks.
My son in similar situation. His guidance counselor is looking into whether she can upload a letter from his teacher who is now at a different school directly into Naviance (that’s the system his school uses). I’m not sure if his math or physics teacher could mail directly to each school (maybe provide addressed envelope if you’re still in touch)?
We didn’t know either were leaving until they just weren’t there. We did track down math. His counselor seemed to think no to Naviance using it.
Our student experienced some difficulties getting letters of recommendation due to COVID- related disruptions that impacted in-class learning and/or teachers even meeting kids. For the Class of 22, there was a big chunk missing last half of sophomore year and all of Junior year. Tough for some kids.
