Should I bother sending Pitt a letter of recommendation to enhance my application? I recently applied using the PITT Priority app, but I have yet to send in my SAT scores. I have a teacher writing a letter of recommendation for me, but I won't have the letter until the 14th, a day before the Oct 15th priority deadline. Is it worth waiting so I can attach my letter of recommendation—does Pitt have those high on their important materials list—or should I just send in my scores now and forget the recommendation?

you can send it in after the fact. once they have what they need, they will make a decision on your app unless you ask them to wait for the letter of rec. if i were you, i would not suggest asking them to wait if you think you have the stats to get in. send it once you have it if you are in the running for merit aid and pitt will add it to your scholarship app.

So would an SAT score of 2010 (R: 740 M: 640 W: 630) and a 3.75 weighted GPA be stats good enough to stand on their own and get me in or would a strong recommendation give me a needed boost? I’m a bit wary of sending everything at the last minute.

Your SAT scores are good but your GPA is a little lower than average (the average weighted GPA of last years admitted students was 3.97). But 72% of admitted applicants had a 3.75 or higher, so your GPA is pretty good in those regards.

I think it would help to also know what major/school you are applying for, M/F, IS/OOS, and ethnicity. All of those factor into admissions decisions too.

Computer science in the Dietrich School, male, in-state, and African-American.

The CS major and being African American will definitely help you. I think you’ll get in.

Being in a under represented minority, and being in Dietrich, not engineering, you will definitely get in.
