Letter Of Recommendation

I’m currently lost and don’t know what to do, any help would be appreciated. I’m currently trying to apply to a college that requires a recommendations letter from your math teacher. However, my math teacher said he can’t write anything about me. I understand why; I’m not his best student and struggle in his class,I do try my best on understanding the material. I’m unable to complete my college application form for that specific college that I really want to get in.

Is there another math teacher you can ask?

How about last year’s math teacher?

I would ask any math teachers you have had in the past. Explain it is necessary for the app. Your current teacher could talk about work ethic, etc. Good Luck!

Quro56 – This also sounds like something your college counselor should be able to help you navigate. Good luck and hang in there!

I agree you should ask your guidance counselor. Can last year’s math teacher help you? It is odd that this year’s teacher is unwilling to help. That suggests either his/her plate is full, or that they don’t see you as trying hard enough that they could at least write something good about your determination or work ethic. Are you doing all the homework? Do you show up for extra help, for school-based tutoring, or for the teacher’s test review sessions? It may be that you just don’t click with the teacher (it happens). But still… no pain, no gain.

Typically it is tech schools or STEM departments that require the math teacher’s LOR, so if you struggle that much in math, you may have to reconsider your top choice college. Be prepared to do that, but first, head over to your GC and get their take on the situation.
