Teacher still hasn't written letter of recommendation

I asked my teacher about a month in advance, he agreed to do it. I have reminded him twice now but I guess he doesn't like me :(. I have already sent my common apps in with that teacher listed for one of my school forms, is there any way I can remove/change him on my commonapp and ask another teacher?

I suppose it is possible there is a glitch in the common application and he thinks he uploaded it, but did not (or he gave it to your college counseling office, and they did not upload it yet or properly). Go check in with the teacher in person tomorrow and ask them about it. Tell them you can’t see that it is posted to the Common App yet, and that you wanted to check on the status because the app due date is… <whatever the="" date="" is,="" you="" don’t="" actually="" state="" in="" your="" post="" whether="" application="" due="" is="" past="">. If the teacher has not done it, let them know your application materials are all turned in, so if he could get to it this week that would be great <smile here="">.</smile></whatever>

Thanks. The deadline was jan 1st. I am preparing for the worst, I think he is just blowing it off on purpose. Is there any way I can change him and then I’ll ask another teacher?

If he is planning on submitting it, he still has a couple days; most colleges are lenient with teacher recommendations. But if he doesn’t plan on submitting it, you do indeed have a problem. I think you should contact the Common App about this, asking them if it would be possible to change the School Forms section.

Put it bluntly to your teacher: ask him if he’s going to get it done soon so you can know whether you should ask another teacher. Don’t worry about what your teacher will think. If he’s unreasonable, then i wouldn’t expect a good rec letter anyway. Then nxplain the situation to another teacher (don’t mention names if you don’t want to)

You are assuming the worst. He may have had many recs to write over break, and just didn’t get them all done. Maybe he or his dog or his mom got sick over break, and he didn’t get them done. Maybe he thinks he uploaded it and he didn’t. Just go see him… stop speculating with strangers on the internet. I guess I would have a backup teacher in mind to ask if he actually says he won’t do it. But just go see the guy in person tomorrow and ask him.

I was totally in the same position! I would remind him again. You’re not being pushy, you’re being assertive!

if he agreed, it is his duty to carry it out

Some teachers are just complete dicks and don’t care that this is your future that you are putting in their hands. I asked my Physics teacher from last year to write me a letter of rec 4 1/2 months ago. He gave me a big speech about how he had so many letters to write that he wouldn’t be able to do it for my EA school, but would get to it for RD. And he showed me a grand total of 10 people that had asked him for a rec…Well after several in-person reminders and emails before winter break, he still never wrote me a rec. Sometimes people are *******s bro

Are you guys picking these teachers cause you like them or because they teach AP _____ related to your major? Cause that’s not a good reason if they’re going to be forgetful or don’t care about sending you guys a recommendation. I picked two teachers that I knew would be on time haha

I asked another teacher. I sent a couple emails during break. School started today and my friend told me that the teacher emailed him back about his final grade during break while ignoring mine. I seriously thought he liked me, I don’t get it lol I always paid attention and had As both sem, got a 5 on AP test too :/
