Letter to a Young Female Physician

Topic (imposter syndrome) applicable to both female and male physicians.

very good article! I just forwarded it to some one who is graduating from the U of Chicago Med School.

““This fear, sometimes called “imposter syndrome,” is not unique to women. Your male colleagues also have many moments of insecurity, when they’re convinced that they alone among their peers are incapable of understanding the coagulation pathway, tying the perfect surgical knot, or detecting a subtle heart murmur.””

Yup! That feeling that, “omg, I somehow slipped thru but don’t really belong here. How can I keep them from realizing their mistake?”

I still feel that way when I look at terrible architectural drawings I’m supposed to interpret. I always think, “What am I missing? I’m so stupid!” 99.9% of the time, it turns out the architect is the stupid one.
