^ What was the point of your previous post on this thread? You just admitted that you don’t know the person and that you have not seen what was submitted.

And I doubt Stanford or even Princeton can be considered a nerdy school. No doubt they have nerds but overall their culture is a too rounded to categorize them as such.

Mysticgohan, on an entirely unrelated note, how many times have you been part of a prank/been pranked in the past year?

If you know what I mean ;)

Haha well you mean in the past term? Well I was involved in one minor one but witness to a really nice one that was played by seniors of a particular house on the juniors in that house. There’s a lot of work >.<

I only disagree with the need blind. I’m considered international and I got into cornell

Haha yes
I am trying to write my last essay on an unusual way of having fun. Once those 1000 characters are done, all my applications are done.

I was reading about their various pranks and it sounds like a really fun place to be Seniors pranking the juniors? Sounds like the place I want to be :D

Haha yeah the frosh awoke to find all their doors missing ;)

You’re not applying here are you Tizil?

I am
It’s an awesome place! The best part? It is a small place! And the honor code! The level of respect and authority they bestow on students is amazing! I am trying to perfect the supplement. Just missing the unusual fun essay :p

fall2016parent: That’s true for premed, prebusiness, prelaw, pre-anything. While the EECS curriculum and classes are quite time consuming and require a lot of work, there’s an incredible culture of collaboration and helping each other out. Also most EECS classes aren’t curved, that eliminates any need for competition.

Some of the intro econ classes, on the other hand… jesus.

Indeed well I must warn you its a lot of work. Anyway we can talk about that when its actually decision time Very very very nerdy though :P

Hey mystic! Honestly, while Harvard engineering does terribly in the rankings, it offers superior exit opportunities than every school save perhaps Stanford, Caltech, and MIT. Plus, student support/attention/facilities are all top-notch thanks to Harvard throwing more money at it in just the past five years than most schools can afford to spend in a century. Plus, no one is going to turn down Harvard for Cornell because engineering there is ranked higher. :)

Also, I don’t have anything against Cornell. I too attend a lower Ivy (not because of lack of choice though ;)). I just dislike the author of this ‘guide’. He’s obviously incredibly jealous of PP, and is only trying to discredit her impressive achievements to make himself feel better.

@Blackadder - what is considered pre-law? Thought pre-law can take any undergrad major…is there one area that UCB undergrads stick to for pre-law? So you are saying Econ classes are very hard in Berkeley…Interesting. Yes, I have heard pre-med classes are tough everywhere as everyone wants to vie for the medical schools. Also good to know EECS is not as crazy…though harder to get in than the college of letters and science.

PD - what is great about Columbia for a why Columbia essay?

I guessed your motivations immediately PD But lets leave personal grudges aside and help these hapless hatchlings Well just as being part of Harvard, opportunities are thrown at you so yeah it is pretty amazing.

Someone has to stand up for a long lost schoolmate no? ;)

NYC!

Lol jk. If you need essay ideas for your son/daughter, I can PM you the invites/reasons to attend I received back in May from current students. They have great points on what distinguishes Columbia from the rest.

But PD is right, the author did have some rather strong opinions about the Harvard admit and his advice needs to be taken with a piece of salt. And screw NYC, Westside baby! ;)

Damn. You know me too well haha.

Also, no grudges against anyone. Will say however that I was quite surprised that resume impressed anyone. ;)

The hapless hatchlings only need this guide, tbh. It’s actually fairly accurate. Although, I would say the SAT threshold should be a bit higher. The ones who get in with sub-2250s are exceptions, generally.

True. West Philly FTW! ;)

Haha Philly indeed. And yeah the guide is pretty accurate but really regardless of what he says about MIT, people will apply there anyway. Its only one school who knows ;)
