letter to the Alumni

My son sent me the following letter that was passed on to him from a classmate..

Subject: Kings Point class agents

Dear Kings Point class agents from '96 to '05,

Please help me pass this information to your classmates. I ask that you please forward this email and attachment to them. I hope that the 'young alumni' will find this information helpful, and that it will move them to become more involved as alumni. (The class agents from '85 to '95 have already received this email. Also, CAPT Hard did apply for the Sup's position and he does know about this email.)

Thank you for your time,
S. Michelle Gates '02

Dear fellow Kings Pointer,

As you may have heard, Kings Point is going through a troubling time of review by the GAO, the U. S. Government Accountability Office (see page 135, http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=110_cong_reports&docid=f:sr418.110.pdf ).

However, you may have not heard about the significant changes in Regimental life that have occurred since you graduated. I am writing to you, because I am a graduate who has spent the last two years working at the Academy as one of the five Company Officers (CO). I believe that the standards of the Regiment are being compromised in a negative way. This greatly concerns me, and it should concern you, too.

There are five areas that will be addressed in no particular order of importance: physical training, honor, discipline, regimental life, and setbacks.

I entered USMMA in the summer of ’98 and graduated in ‘02. Here are just a few examples of how KP has changed in the ten years since I first entered Vickery Gate:

v Indoctrination has turned into summer camp

Wow.

Hopefully this "wakeup call" from within will get the attention of those who can make the changes and get Kings Point back on track.

This has been floating around for quite a while now. I'll hold comment for now.

Despite this, Capt Hard is not a candidate for Supt, however, I hope that whoever is the new Supt takes the time to read and address the issues.

As a Company Officer did this individual take her issues up the Chain of Command or simply blast out an e-mail soliciting for CAPT Hard?

I believe that this person is no longer a company officer there and sent this email after their departure. With that being the case your question is still a valid one.
