I just wanted to be clear, when a school like Princeton or Columbia sends you emails and envelopes to apply to their school, does that have any significance?
Thanks!

It does not. They want to boost their applicant pool so that they can lower their admission rate.

No, it doesn’t bear any significance towards your admission.

Agree with post 3. Disagree with post 2’s assertion: “They want to boost their applicant pool so that they can lower their admission rate.”

This is a totally cynical view which I don’t share. They want great applicants – and they use various marketing tools to do this – emails, school visits, college fairs. I guess mnchnk would have them stop all public relations to decrease their applicants. Idiotic way of thinking, IMHO.

Then again, Princeton’s admissions and marketing policies are to serve Princeton, not the desires of HS students and their families.
