S got a rejection letter in the mail today here in New England.

I received my rejection letter this morning… ):

Does anyone know if my theater rejections cancels out my academic acceptance? Or can I change my major to like undecided? I am wondering if I could change to something like undecided & then reaudition each semester for either BA or BFA theater programs? Is this possible?

Geofio- My D last year was waitlisted at Pace and it was clear to me the academic side of the school still very much wanted her to come. We kept hearing from them so I’d certainly give admissions a call if you are still interested in attending. You’d be in a great location to keep up with your voice, dance and acting training even if those MT classes happened outside of Pace.

Geofio - Your theater rejection does not cancel out the academic acceptance at all! Many students who have been rejected from the PA programs, still attend Pace. Many chose to minor in a program (no audition required) and still pursue their artistic endeavors within the city while earning an alternate degree. Keep in mind, Pace will also have an Arts and Entertainment Management major (most likely by next yr) which is a great option for students who want to study the business side of the entertainment industry.

I am so sorry you got the letter today, I was pulling for you, g…but I also think if you really want Pace, go for it anyway! I know my D was planning on attending Pace even if she didn’t get into one of her programs. You do have the option of re-auditioning, and you also have the option of auditioning for shows, etc. To say nothing of the location, location, location!!!

Thank you to everyone! I called admissions today & they said I’ve automatically been bumped to undecided & am still perfectly fine to attend! The woman on the phone talked me through how I can reaudition every semester for the theater majors (she said I can audition as many times as I want but online says two times max.) does anyone know? I’m gonna call the theater department tomorrow anyway to ask. She also said how there are basic theater, music & dance classes I can take as electives plus there are minors. I’ve already looked into a double minor in theater arts & music! Thanks again to all of you caring people on cc! (:

Wow, Geofio, thanks for all the info. S is still planning on going there, too. We saw that you can only audition twice on the website, as well. Please let us know what you find out.

523mom I’ll let you know as soon as I find out! If I don’t talk to anyone tomorrow I will for sure call this weekend

Just spoke to a woman named Robin from the theater department. She said that the website is correct in only being able to audition twice. She was pretty sure that includes your original audition so you can only re-audition one time while at pace. She wasn’t 100% sure on this though but I’d rather assume that I have less chances just in case. I asked about chances/statistics of getting in & she said it all depends on if the programs are lacking a certain type of person if someone decided not to attend pace, dropped out etc.

Thanks for the info, GEOFIO. We have run into the same problem with the “left hand” not knowing what the “right hand” does. I hate it when people speak about something they don’t have the facts on. Good luck!

geo, we were told that it is once a semester for the following semester.

Has anyone heard of acceptances from commercial dance for the fall of 2013?

I would caution you to get full information directly from Wayne Petro (theatre admission director) about possibly re-auditioning for the theatre programs at Pace while in the academic side of the school. We asked many such questions about reapplying, trying in a later year as a transfer student, etc. He told my D that it was unlikely you could make it into the program in any of these ways - and that future numbers of applicants were only going to make it even harder than it was this year. If Pace gives you what you want, without the theatre dept, then you are in good shape. Just don’t make a decision to go academically with the hope to transfer over to theatre, unless Wayne tells you you have that opportunity ahead of time.

i would also caution you, like prntosome, that the chances of being accepted into the MT program on the second audition are slim to none. someone with very good authority told me that ‘if they didn’t want you the first time they saw you, it’s very unlikely that they will change their minds.’ that pretty much applies to any MT program you might think about auditioning to a second time :/

I am wondering for this years MT program are they calling everyone that gets into the MT program or are they just sending letters and only contacting some? Also how long should I expect my letter to take to arrive because I live in florida. I just really want to go to this school so badly.
