Letters of Rec sent to UC by mistake

Hi,

One of my D's teachers sent his letter of Rec to Univ of California and California State University by mistake and these schools say on their applications that they do not use any Letters of Rec. Today at school, my D got to know from her counselor that this has happened and knowing the stressful person that she is, she is getting worried if sending this letter of rec (when not needed and not asked) would negatively impact her application. I have a feeling they will just ignore the letters of rec even if sent.

Do any of you think that she has to individually approach each school and let them know that her teacher has sent the letter by mistake or she can just keep quiet about it?

Thanks!

not a big deal. It happens all the time. The recs are just shredded since they are not used.

Tell your D not to worry – documents that aren’t used are simply shredded, especially for the UCs and CSUs which receive thousands (if not tens of thousands) of applications.
