Letters of Rec

Ok so this is my first year applying to summer programs and I came across something that made me curious. So for Teacher Recommendations it said that I could either have the teacher send the recommendation directly to the program of attach the letter with the rest of my app. Well I've chosen to attach the letter with the rest of my app. Well it also says that I have to have the letters sealed. So I'm curious...I waived my rights to see the letter but how does the summer program know that i didn't just break into the envelope and put it in another one when i was done reviewing the letter? I'm just curious because I'm afraid maybe I did something wrong (as I said, this is my first time applying to summer programs). Thanks! :)

Haha I had the same problem. Well, the teachers sign the edge of the envelope… if you know what i mean, like the part where the edges of the triangle with the glue meets the body of the envelope. So after they lick it, they sign on top of it, so that the signature is uniform. If you were to break it, you would need to forge their signature… And the teachers use a specific envelope from the school. But… i guess the colleges can’t really find out if youre good… but if they find out, GG. Don’t do it. Ask for letter of recommendation from a teacher u trust, and they’ll write you a good one.

haha I wasn’t planning on breaking it, I was just curious how it worked. And you say that you get specific envelopes from the schools…I didn’t get one of those. Do all schools do that? or signing the edges good enough?

Hmmm i guess its different for everyschool then… and signing the edges should be good enough since theres nothing else you can do about it…
