Hi I was wondering how many letters of recommendation does UPitt require? Its not on the website and I was hoping you guys could help. Thanks in advance
I just went to a tour there a few days ago and somebody asked this question. I can’t remember exactly how the admissions lady worded it, but it sounded like they don’t really want any. Something about how it doesn’t really show who you are and they’d rather have you fill out their short answer questions instead.

While we appreciate people taking the time to write a recommendation letter on your behalf, we find letters are most beneficial in limited circumstances, such as providing context for variance in academic performance. Short Answer Questions can also be utilized to explain or clarify what most recommenders would detail in a letter.
