Letters of Recommendation

I’ve done a little research, and I know that MIT requires 2 LoRs from a Humanities and Math/Science teacher, but I was wondering: would it be possible (or even recommended) to send a 3rd one? I have two teachers from the Math/Science branch I truly enjoyed learning from, and I really want to ask them both.

Any advice?

Unless there is a serious reason to not follow their guidelines, the third rec should be from someone who can add context to your profile outside of a school setting.

I disagree a little bit with @chancethrow7815 . It is perfectly reasonable to have a third rec from someone who knows you from within the school setting but in a different way (say for example the football coach, or the young entrepreneurs mentor, etc.). The key is that if you choose to include a third LoR, it should give MIT significant perspective about you that the admissions officers could not get from what is already in the file. So if you have a math teacher with whom you were very close who would write “I had @Emikadon do superbly well in my class and I found it a joy to teach @Emikadon” and then a second math teacher who would write some variant of the first letter, then don’t bother getting that second letter.
