Letters of Recommendation

Does anyone know if Georgetown accepts supplemental letters of recommendation? From coaches or someone who is not academically involved and does not use the teacher's report form?

bump bump bump

yes - typically they just send it in as a letter (not a teacher rec, as in not using the form)

Okay thank you, I was planning on just sending in the letter without a form or anything. Do you mind telling me where you got that information? I looked on their website and couldn’t find anything.

it’s pretty common knowledge, it’s what I did when I applied to colleges and what my friends did… and what kids continue to do these days

Yes, this is generally true. However some schools frown upon sending in extra letters, and since Georgetown only requires 1 teacher form (but allows 2), I’m wondering whether they will frown upon an additional letter of rec, since they may feel it is too much paperwork.

Frankly, maybe… do you feel this recommendation will ADD that much value to your app? I can tell you the admissions office gets TONS of paper work and they have a small army of student workers to sort through everything… I can also tell you that this recommendation will not carry the same weight as counselor or teacher rec and in some cases may not be read… but ti’s up to you
