I've been searching Georgetown's website, but have not found anything about supplemental recommendations (not from a school teacher but for something like research, in my case politics). Do they discourage such letters any more than the next highly selective school which doesn't want additional letters that don't bring something majorly different to the table (this does so that's not my concern). If Georgetown will read it, do I just have the person send it to admissions, along with my name, DOB, and Georgetown app ID probably?

If the “extra” recommendation serves to show a different side of you than the required recommendation then it can help your application. Have the person recommending you send it directly to Admissions.

I think it is a good idea. This recommendation will show that you take your research seriously and hope to pursue it in the future and college like commitment

Call and ask the ADCOM. Some schools will take them. At UNC an ADCOM member stated they don’t want them and joked about a student sending 31 letters. They threw his application in the rejected pile.

I was also interested in sending a second recommendation letter because I think it would enhance my application. My teacher demonstrated things that I think the rest of my application doesn’t. My only question is how I send it? Is there a formal proccess for it? Can you just print out a second teacher recommendation form, have your teacher fill it out and send it to them? If anybody else has done it, can you please specify what you did? I just want to get it right. Thanks ahead of time for any responses.

I just had my extra rec sent in a sealed envelope with my Georgetown ID on the front and then my full ID info (DOB, address, name) at the top of the written letter.

For Tulane, they had me send extra materials to the admissions office, to the counselor. If they say you should send it somewhere else instead, then at least that counselor will know you did that, too. I think one or two items like that keep them thinking about you, helps them to know you really want it, and connect with you, I think
