How much weight do letters of recommendations carry for the admissions process? Would it really hurt my chance of being admitted if I failed to submit any?

Did your counselor submit a school report through The Common Application?

@alamemom Yes I believe so, is that considered a letter of rec? I thought it was only the transcript etc etc.

For admission to USC, here is the list of required documents:
http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/firstyear/prospective/checklist.html

And the application components:
http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/firstyear/prospective/components.html

And requirements for Roski:
http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/firstyear/prospective/roski.html

It appears that if your counselor submitted the school report through The Common Application that you have met the minimum in terms of required application components. It probably would have benefited you to submit a recommendation from an art teacher as well, but the lack of that recommendation will not necessarily exclude you from consideration. In any case, you will know for sure in a few short days.

Good luck.

@alamemom Thank you for the info! I have no idea why I did not think about asking for letters of rec for USC at the time…oh well, I guess I will find out in a few days.
