LGBT at Vanderbilt

Hey, I’m a high school junior beginning to look at options for college. I come from a conservative town and am currently in the closet. I am very interested in Vanderbilt, but I’m worried about staying in the South. Would I fit in at Vanderbilt and possibly find a friend, boyfriend, etc.?

Contact and explore the programs and services of the Office of LGBTQI. Perhaps they can answer questions or put you in touch with current students.

I’m a queer vandy student if u have questions. we have a strong community here but there are definitely setbacks. I know a lot of people here who were closeted before coming to college. at every gay event you can wear a sticker that dignifies that you can’t be photographed or tagged for any post

i’m bisexual and i met all my friends through the LGBTQI group on campus and hang out there majority of the time. like they^ said, we are a really strong community, but of course there can sometimes be issues within the organization. i highly encourage you to check out Lambda when you get on campus or visit the KCPC, or message me if you have any specific questions, i’d be glad to help. all in all, it’s a really great atmosphere and is very accepting and accommodating.
