Liberal Arts at Clemson

Does anybody have experience with the Liberal Arts at Clemson? Any comments on its strengths , weaknesses?

Here’s my take on liberal arts at Clemson. Unless you are in love with the university, are an in-state student, or have some other really compelling reason to come here, I would not go to Clemson to get a degree in anything that isn’t practical. Our strong programs here are business, engineering, sciences, architecture, nursing, education etc… basically anything that is a technical or practical degree. Clemson isn’t really known for liberal arts. You’ll get a much better education somewhere else. The liberal arts college in South Carolina is College of Charleston so that’s where you would go in South Carolina for liberal arts. The only liberal arts department that I can think of that would be good of at Clemson is history.

Just my opinion.

I plan on majoring in History

We have a couple of good teachers at Clemson in economics and history. However, I feel that even so, Clemson’s department is a bit lacking than other colleges that aren’t as technical and more liberal arts focused. Take into consideration also that you may decide that history isn’t for you and switch your major.

I’m not discouraging you from picking Clemson but I just want you to be aware that there are better places to go for liberal arts.
