i was wondering whether emory college of arts and sciences and oxford college are officially classed as a liberal arts colleges?

i didn't really understand that since emory itself is just a national university.. sorry if this is a really dumb question :(

also for the why emory if i'm planning on applying to both oxford and cas, how do i fit in the separate aspects of both colleges that attract me in 250 words! help!

The college of arts and sciences, like at the ones at every other university, considers itself a liberal arts based entity of the university, so yes. And of course Oxford is a liberal arts college. Why don’t you simply discuss the concept of getting a liberal arts education and how either environment will work for you in obtaining one (and perhaps describe what you like about both in this context)? You can figure something out.

US News and World Report publishes educational rankings each year. They divide the top schools into two groups: universities and liberal arts colleges. What they really mean are liberal arts colleges attached to major universities (e.g. Emory College of Emory University) and un-attached liberal arts colleges (e.g. Pomona College).

Don’t stress about it (and don’t take US News rankings too seriously either).

If you are applying to both Emory and Oxford, I think you should have some leeway with the word limit - as long as the complete essay will upload.
