How do the Midwestern LACs rank in terms of the liberal-conservative spectrum? (Like the top 100 LACs?)

Oberlin is liberal

^ Yes…but how liberal in comparison?

I feel like it’s the most liberal. They have like communes and woman’s football

Grinnell is pretty liberal too

Wheaton college and Robert Morris U are very conservative

^yeah…Wheaton is on one end and Oberlin is on the other?

indeed

do we count Pennsylvanian as the midwest? I do sometimes because of the big 10. there are a lot of liberal arts schools that lean slightly right there

Marquette might be on the right because it’s catholic.

Uchicago(if it counts as LAC) is known to be libertarian

Lawrence seems kind of in the middle to me

Kenyon is liberal but not as liberal as oberlin

Could you give us some names… We can’t rank them all but can probably provide groupings for a couple dozen. :)

Carleton is probably pretty liberal as is macalester. probably around the same range as kenyon.

Denison is probably on the right. Centre might be too but it’s in kentucky if that counts

Depauw and St. Olaf are probably in the middle

idk about wabash

Beloit i think is in the middle, leaning left but it might be more liberal then that

I’m going to college ******* this

Sure. The names that come to mind are:

Kenyon
Oberlin
Wooster
Earlham
Illinois Wesleyan
Wheaton
St. Olaf
Kalamazoo
Cornell
Hillsdale
Hope
Lake Forest
Knox
Beloit
Grinnell
Macalester
Denison
Carleton

According to Princeton Review, Beloit(13) is more liberal than Oberlin(19), but who knows? Macalester (8) is the most liberal college in the Midwest but the vast majority of liberal colleges are on the coasts.

Again, according to Princeton Review, Grove City College, Hillsdale College and College of the Ozarks are very conservative. Wheaton (IL) and Kansas State also show up on the top 20 list. Overall, religious colleges and military academies are labeled conservative.

I’m not totally sure if they all count as liberal arts though

I started doing the most conservative but that one was hard to figure out if they were liberal arts or not. I mostly did it by size

Yeah that site is my friend, and probably around the Great Lakes.

Lol me too but I’m not totally sure if it’s accurate or not. Also I always feel like I rely too much on their grades and rankings than I should but it does have just about everything I want to know about a college

Yes. Food is of the utmost importance. :)
