Life after college for music majors?

Hey everyone, I thought I'd ask a question for anyone who has graduated from a music school somewhere. I'm pretty much dead set on revolving my whole life around music in some way or another and I'd just like to hear some personal stories of people who graduated from a music program. What did you do after you graduated? How's your life now? etc. Thanks.

You know those headsets that they wear at McDonalds? I am pretty sure that they play music.

Seriously, since no one is responding, you might want to do a search on this site and also a web search. I’m quite sure that personal experiences vary greatly.

DD has graduated but she does not hang out here. I think you may find that to be the case for most. If you would like parents to relate what the former students are doing, you may get more repsonse. Also, VP, instrumental? Experiences may vary.

DD graduated in VP from Rice. She took 2 years off before auditioning for grad school this year. She lives on her own in the city. She maintains 2 paying jobs singing but also has to have at least another part time job to make ends meet. So she has done some nanny and retail since those were easiest. Part time retail fit her schedule this year since she is on the audition circuit. We still provide a minimum level of support along the lines of the car needs major repairs, etc. Her social life still revolves around Rice music since she still takes lessons and coaching from the staff and knows and works with a numbr of the grad students. 2 of her classmates are in grad school now and one is touring in Europe singing with Broadway show companies.
